In March of 2000 the Army Corps of Engineers held a hearing at Fort Monmouth regarding the proposed dumping of contaminated dredge spoils three miles off the coast of Sandy Hook, NJ

The public was outraged.

Anthony M. Sellitto put an On-line Petition on his website where the public could to voice their opposition to the plan.

Over 12,000 people signed the on-line petition. Mr. Sellitto brought a print out of the petition to the hearing and presented it to the Army Corps of Engineers.
